Wishing everyone a great 2015

Just look at these lovely azalea's, with all the rain we have had we had a full cover of flowers  about 2 months ago. They are south facing, against a wall. This plant catches the morning sun, it is the only spot in our garden that we can grow azaleas. The lower two photograph shows two grass parrots that I found on our doorstep in Sawtell caravan park, they stayed around for a while and as I was feeding them they came right up to me and fed from my hand.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and I hope the new year to bring you some peace within, God bless. Lyn.

In the new year I will be joining a workshop with Kate Bolton, we will be learning new techniques as well as painting a lovely painting, we have 3 paintings to choose from, i will be painting gum trees. I will let you know how i go!

New painting

This folk art pattern is from a collection by Denise Shulik, and at the Mountains and Rivers meeting on Saturday Denise taught this piece to twenty four ladies, It was a light piece to paint achievable in the 3-4 hours that we have at the meeting. See Mountains and Rivers blog to see what is happening within the painting group. www.mountainsandriversfdp.blogspot.com

The painting below is painted by me, I painted this on a canvas 35cm x 45cm.

Workshop 2013 with Chris Roy

It is always nice to paint with Chris, I learn something every time I attend one of Chris workshops. This time we painted one of Chris's  new workshop patterns. A watercolour Australian wildflowers.

The watercolour was painted on a pine hexagon box, in a style of watercolour, although mine, by accident  became a little thicker paint as I tended to lean more towards Folk Art than watercolour. It is hard to get your mind around watercolours when painting with acrylics on a pine box.

As usual Chris was very supportive, and I was really happy with the results. If you are interested in painting this new workshop piece, Chris can be contacted via Facebook.

This is my finished piece, Thanks Chris!

Hello

Hi everyone, time is passing so quickly! It is now March, I have already been to two workshops, one with Kate Belton at the first meeting of the year with Mountains & Rivers at Penrith, painting a lovely wood tile with a kettle and fruit, it came up lovely as Kate is always a professional  teacher, this was in February.

This is my painting; (there is texture paste underneath)

Then only last week I was at a workshop with Christine Whipper, we painted 'Maude'. The background is done with Mattisse inks before painting Maude with Jo Sonja paints. My painting is not yet finished.

The original 'Maude' was painted by Alfons Mucha a talanted Art Nouveau painter in the 1930's.

My painted owls on a canvas bag was entered in the folk art section, Fabric painting, of the Luddernham show last weekend, and would you belive it I recieved First Prize! much to my supprise.

My latest workshop as a student.

As you can see this is part of a project by Christine Whipper, the original painting was 30" x 40" painted in the Chinese design. I only painted part of the design in the workshop on a smaller canvas and intend to paint the full piece over the next few weeks as I think it would look awesome on the wall over the bed. This is part of the flower, painted by Chris.

This photo is driving me crazy! I can not get it the right way up!!!!!!!!!!

My painting on the day of the workshop, part of the design. The background is interesting and easy to achieve. I will publish my finished piece when it is finished, so you can see all the design.

Christine showing us a demonstration on the day.

Christine can be contacted via Tin Kat Alley, Tinkat Alley Art Studio is only one hour north of the Pymble exit to the Newcastle Sydney freeway.

Painting Convention 2012

Last weekend I was at Nelson Bay attending a Painting Convention with Mountains and Rivers Painting group. We stayed at the Marina Resort in Nelson Bay, a lovely Motel with views from most rooms looking towards the harbour.
The fellowship was great, we painted three projects from a variety of really good subjects through out the weekend. We also had a mini market on Friday night with wine and cheese. Saturday we had our night out with dress up's, all Sun, Surf and Sand, with plenty of prizes for the winning entries.
More Photographs can be found on the Mountains and Rivers Blogpage.

Painted with Inks!

Another Cool Workshop with Kate Belton, I painted this yesterday at a workshop in Penrith.  Thanks Kate!

Kate taught us some unusual backgrounds before teaching us how to paint with Matisse Inks. It was very relaxing to paint, using a large canvas, (60 x 90) we were able to create our masterpieces in a few hours. Kate can be contacted at Tin Kat Alley, (see links). Kate has a variety of patterns available for this type of work.

My Ned kelly Trees

A cool workshop with Chris Roy, Gum trees. We completed this in a one day workshop quite comfortable with time to reflect and add extra touches too, (well you could call it fiddling), not too much, just enough to be happy with the results.

When I got it home my Hubby said I had painted a spooky tree and he could see Ned Kelly, so I call it my Ned Kelly Trees!

I painted this on a canvas using acrylics.

Paintings with some of the Elders at Hoxton Park aged care center.
We had a lovely day painting a canvas with letters, flowers and scrolls, these ladies are a pleasure to spend time with, and they enjoy painting.

Workshop with Christine Whipper

This original painting by Christine Whipper was the subject for a workshop last Saturday, we had a great day, and happy to see Chris was okay after her fall in March. Thankyou Chris and June for a lovely day.

There is a lot of work in this one, but quite enjoyable to paint once you get into all those leaves! It is the  shadows at the end that realy make this painting work. Christine very kindly let me take a photo of her piece so we could all finish off our paintings at home.

Thankyou Chris for a lovely day, I would love to paint with you again soon.
